I sometimes receive deep healing insights through dreams. A recent dream brought an old hypervigilance pattern from the subconscious into clear awareness. It felt like a background program running quietly in my system — draining my energy, triggering stress responses, and inhibiting natural biological processes. I can now see how it kept me from feeling safe, from relaxing, even from breathing fully. It no longer surprises me that I developed asthma in my teens.
Over the years, another autoimmune condition emerged — Type II diabetes.
Then in 2025, as I was drifting off to sleep one evening, my hand reached out and found a tumour. That led to my breast cancer diagnosis. The year of treatment that followed was both difficult and deeply transformative. It helped me take a deeper dive into healing.
The support from my family, friends, my Reiki family and community, my meditation community, and my hitsuzendo–calligraphy sangha has been invaluable. Every prayer, every blessing has felt like a piece of the healing jigsaw. Each one has mattered. I have come through the active treatment with innumerable blessings. The maintenance treatment will continue.
My daily Reiki and meditation practices help me welcome the seemingly “unwanted visitors” — the diagnosis, the illness, the fatigue, and now this hypervigilant part. Rumi’s poem Guest House continues to guide me. I am learning to welcome all the parts that have been showing up, recognising that each one is an essential aspect of my wholeness. However uncomfortable they may seem, each part carries a message, a gift needed for healing. I am learning to give them space, time, a voice, and deep listening.
As I began listening to the hypervigilant part, I realised I was not alone. This pattern had been carried by the women in my ancestral line. This pattern is held in the collective by innumerable women. For centuries, women have not felt safe, sometimes even within their own homes.
I go to my Reiki practice when deeper healing is required. Using second-degree Reiki, I sent Reiki to heal and reconcile with the hypervigilant part and the underlying causes. I do not send Reiki “to my ancestors” — I feel they are already healed when they leave the body. Instead, I sense that they are the ones helping me, blessing me, supporting with the healing needed in this realm. So I invited the blessings of the women in my lineage to help with the healing for the best possible outcome for all concerned.
The next morning, I woke from a dream showing me that Reiki practice — and the Reiki lineage itself — is helping clear this pattern, not only for me but for my daughter as well.
If this resonates with you, I would love to offer a group Reiki sending for deeper healing. So many of us carry these patterns. We can’t do this healing alone, practising with the community helps each one of us. As we heal, we return to our own wholeness, we receive the blessings, and we naturally radiate those blessings to the people around us.
